J’ai
organisé un panel franco-louisianais pour présenter les cultures et pour
commencer à bâtir des relations avec des nouveaux profs. Sur le panel étaient des représentants
de la Nation Unie des Houma et des communautés créoles et cadiennes de toute
âge! Cliford Johnson notre
traducteur créole pour les Patates, a parlé en créole. Il a demandé au milieu de sa
présentation si le monde pouvait le comprendre. Puis tout le monde dans la salle, y
compris des Français, des Belges, des Canadiens et tous les Louisianais, a
clairement dit oui. Tout le monde
était étonné et fier en même temps.
Il faut pas lâcher les patates mais plutôt des murs inutiles!
I organized a
Franco-Louisiana panel to present our culture and to begin to build
relationships with the new teachers.
On the panel were representatives of the United Houma Nation, as well as
the Cajun and Creole communities, of all ages! Cliford Johnson, our Creole translator
for les Patates, spoke in Creole.
He asked in the middle of his presentation if everyone could understand
him. And everyone in the room,
including the French, the Belgians, the Canadians and all of the Louisianians,
clearly said yes. We were all
astonished and pleased at the same time.
Perhaps it’s time to knock down some walls instead of throwing out the
potato.!

Elle recommence dimanche soir le 6 septembre à 10 p.m. avec le film
Marius,
le premier film dans la trilogie légendaire, Fannie,
avec une introduction par Dr William Arceneaux, chef de la Fondation
Louisiane. Les films se répètent le
samedi soir suivant à 10 p.m. sur LBP 2.
Un nouveau film se présente pour 12 semaines de suite afin de suivre le

It will
air again beginning Sunday evening September 6 at 10 p.m. with the film
Marius, the first film
in the legendary Fannie trilody, with an
introduction by Dr. William Arceneaux, President of Fondation Louisiane. The films will be aired a second time on
the following Saturday at 10 p.m. on LPB 2. A new film will be presented for 12
consecutive weeks, following the fall academic calendar. A study guide for teachers and students
of French is available for each film in the series on the Louisiana Public

L’histoire
de la Vallée St-Jean sur la frontière entre le Maine aux Etats-Unis et le
Nouveau-Brunswick au Canada est fort intéressante. C’est une région francophone, acadienne
et québécoise, et c’est toutes les mêmes familles qui restent sur les deux bords
de la frontière. Un nouveau livre
