LOT, NOCVB earn French media award

L'Echo Touristique recently named the Louisiana Office of Tourism and New Orleans CVB's spring 2014 online campaign with MyLittleParis.com in France "Best/Most Innovative". The award was announced by the French travel trade magazine at Les Trophées de l'Innovation, which recognized 11 world DMOs for outstanding programs, campaigns and products. MyLittleParis.com caters to young, active and urban readers and it is particularly popular among women, with more than 200,000 female readers. The Louisiana/New Orleans promotion involved both online promotions and a six-page editorial spread about New Orleans in My Little World, a magazine for website subscribers.

  Louisiana participates in Travel South USA pan-European sales mission
Louisiana Office of Tourism's chief Kyle Edmiston and its international sales leader, Mike Prejean, along with New Orleans CVB and seven other Travel South destinations, participated in a whirlwind sales mission to Italy, the Netherlands, Belgium and France in June. The mission, arranged by Travel South USA, highlighted chef John Besh cooking for media, trade contacts and the U.S. Ambassador in Italy, as well as trade sales workshops and media functions in Milan, Amsterdam, Brussels and Paris.
 


Chicago Mission Delegates   Chicago sales mission included garden food event
Staff representing the Louisiana Office of Tourism and five DMOs met with four companies during a recent sales mission in Chicago. The mission included appointments and a LOT-sponsored Chef Series event at the Chicago Botanic Garden, where visitors experienced Louisiana cuisine, learned about Louisiana ingredients and left with Louisiana recipes. Participating DMOs included the Alexandria-Pineville Area CVB, the Lafayette CVC, the Monroe-West Monroe CVB, the New Orleans CVB and Visit Baton Rouge.
 


IPW   More than 120 travel buyer appointments at IPW 2015
The Louisiana Office of Tourism and DMO partners conducted more than 120 appointments with international travel buyers and more than two dozen interviews with domestic and foreign travel journalists at June's IPW trade show in Orlando. Put on annually by the U.S. Travel Association, IPW is the largest travel industry marketplace in North America and the 2015 show set a record for total delegates and scheduled appointments. New Orleans will host IPW 2016.
 


Louisiana Tap delegates   TAP Dance
More than 50 Louisiana Office of Tourism and state DMO partners literally put on a show for tour operators at the Travel Alliance Partners Tap Dance annual show in Oklahoma City. The Louisiana delegation, led by LOT Deputy Assistant Secretary LeAnne Weill, staged a Louisiana-themed tap dance revue to accompany an event featuring Louisiana cuisine.
 


toledobend reservoir   Toledo Bend is Bassmaster's top U.S. fishing lake
Toledo Bend Reservoir is the number one bass fishing lake in the U.S., Bassmaster magazine recently announced. The 185,000-acre lake shared by DeSoto, Sabine and Vernon parishes outranked 230 fisheries nominated by anglers, fish and wildlife agencies, bass fishing club officials and social media followers nationwide. The Toledo Bend Lake Association says the number of trophy bass caught in the lake has increased for three consecutive years.

  BTR now a TSA Pre ✔ ® airport
The Baton Rouge Metro Airport is the newest Louisiana hub in the national TSA Pre ✔® network. The program screens flyers on participating airlines in advance and allows them to bypass long security checkpoint lines. Three thousand Baton Rouge travelers have already signed on.
 


Food Lover's Guide to Shreveport Bossier Louisiana   New Shreveport-Bossier guide for foodies
Food enthusiasts in Caddo and Bossier parishes now have a guide to locals' favorite eateries. The Shreveport-Bossier Convention and Tourism Bureau recently released "Eat Here: A Food Lover's Guide to Shreveport-Bossier City," and the goal is to steer travelers away from chains and towards venues including fine dining establishments, diners and joints for plate lunches and barbecue.
 


Creole Nature Trail   Creole Nature Trail earns Southern beach nod from USA Today
Cameron Parish's 26 miles of beach on the Creole Nature Trail recently made USA Today's list of best Southern beach getaways. The outlet praised Holly and Rutherford beaches for lack of development, easy accessibility and varieties of shells for collectors.
 


  A Spirited Evening with Danny Meyer
Restaurateur Danny Meyer literally wrote the book on how to serve with his The New York Times best-seller Setting the Table. The CEO of Union Square Hospitality Group and recipient of an unprecedented 25 James Beard Awards, Meyer will share insights from his 25-year career during a lively discussion hosted by Tales of the Cocktail at Harrah's Theater in New Orleans, Wednesday, July 15, at 6 p.m.
 


User Generated Content   User-generated content trending for savvy marketers
Shared smartphone photos are a mainstay of today's traveler, and cutting edge travel marketers are taking that user-generated content to further develop and push their brands. Recent studies indicate most travelers, especially millennials, are posting their real-time travel experiences via social networks. Savvy marketers should use the trend to enhance their product's experience and how they sell it.
 


Travel Agencies   Hiring trends point to stability among travel agencies
If recent hiring trends are a viability indicator, don't write off travel agents as antiquated just yet. Interviews with agents nationwide back a recent ASTA study that says salaries are on the rise and agents are hiring more employees while being more selective in the search process.
