Atchafalaya Heritage Area

The Atchafalaya Heritage Area has been designated by Congress as a National Heritage Area.




The Department of Culture, Recreation, and Tourism is comprised of five agencies-Tourism, State Parks, Cultural Development, State Museums, and the State Library. These departments work together to provide opportunities for education, conservation, interpretation and recreation for our citizens and visitors alike. Commissions within CRT such as the Atchafalaya Trace Commission, the Mississippi River Road Commission, the Red River Development Council, Louisiana Scenic Byways and the Audubon Golf Trail provide additional resources.
