|  | |  | | | Pottery Fragments | | | Over 35,000 pieces of Native American pottery has been recovered from Los Adaes and this represents almost 90% of all ceramics from Los Adaes. Most of these pieces, or sherds, are Caddoan. It is likely that much of the Caddoan pottery came to Los Adaes as containers or packaging for corn, beans, and other foodstuffs grown by the Caddoan peoples. There is evidence that some of the Caddoan pottery was used for cooking. The length of the fragment is 9.7 cm. | | Photo credit: George Avery
