Comments: While I appreciate the concern about the historical legacy of Booker T., it is vitally important to think about the future. The fact is that students in Central City need a place to go NOW. As it is, plans are being made to temporarily open the high school in portable buildings on an empty lot near Martin Luther King Blvd. and Claiborne. That is not good enough for our students. How would you feel, as a high school student, if your "school" was just a bunch of portable buildings? Would you feel as if you were worth as much as students who went to "real schools"? Our priority needs to be getting a permanent building open as soon as possible for the well being of the youth. If that means retaining only the auditorium (which is the most historically significant part of the building) while building other new facilities, then that is what should be done.
