The Micah Project, which is a non-profit faith-based community organizing organization that represents congregations throughout the city, would like to express its support for the rehabilitation of the property at 1020 N. Prieur in order to permit the expansion of the St. Peter Claver School. As you know, 1020 N. Prieur is currently a blighted property. Allowing St. Peter Claver to use the property for the expansion would ensure that this property is used in a manner that contributes to the overall quality of life of the community.
St. Peter Claver has demonstrated its commitment to serving as an anchor institution in the community. Allowing the school to expand would ensure it could better serve the children who seek the excellent academic services provided through St. Peter Claver's school. Currently, as noted above, this property is a blighted piece property. As is known, blight encourages crimes and drives down property value. If St. Peter Claver is able to manage the property the community is assured that the property will be used in a way that only strengthens the community's quality of life.
Again, the Micah Project is delighted to express its support for rehabilitating the 1020 N. Prieur property so it can be used by the St. Peter Claver School.
