Comments: The towers are tall and located at the Orleans-Jefferson parish line. I would like for the design of the towers to be distinctive in a good way. Residents like me who cannot see the towers from our front porches will still see the towers as we commute, shop and exercise. I support the idea of a design committee or competition that engages the neighborhood. Although I'd prefer a historic tower rather than a tank on supports, if it is a tank then a painted design that reflects the river or the history of the Sewerage and Water Board might be nice.

If landscaping and the other suggestions are not possible, perhaps a small grant program can be considered to restore historic doors and windows of contributing properties within 1-6 blocks of the towers. This would be similar to other grant programs since Katrina, except with a focus on restoration instead of rehab. An emphasis could be placed on projects where the restoration of the façade would have high impact and include restoring to the properly sized openings and painting the new work so the restored façade is long-lasting. This might add more longevity to the district than a marker or brochure.

My neighbor asked me to post on her behalf that she supports the tower design as proposed but wants to see it painted with a quality design. She prefers a design that reflects the culture of our neighborhood.
