Dear FEMA,
First off, thank you for your concern and funding of affordable housing in he 9th ward. It is long over-due and long time 9th ward residents desperately need this subsidy. I have attended many of the HANO/ITEX meetings and I can't condone this project and furthermore - I am afraid the developer is more concerned with the at market units then serving our community. The project is very dense and completely out of scale with the area. It occupies limited and valuable green space that has been used by the community for decades. With so many un occupied schools and large buildings sitting empty ( like the navy yard ) i simply do not understand why a brand new building must be constructed in this very small area. we already have serious drainage problems and broken pumps in the region as well - the block where the development is slated regularly floods and there is no drainage plan to date - that with the increase of parking will cause major problems when there is a heavy rain. it's simply out of scale and too dense and i do not believe that the needs of the actual 9th ward residents that will benefit from the increased HANO housing have been addressed. Thank You for your consideration.
Warmly,
Lisa |
