9/1/2018 • Port Hudson State Historic Site, Jackson - 1st Saturday Hike, 10 a.m. Join a park historian on a guided tour of the battlefield sites known as Bennettīs Lunette and Mississippi Redoubt. 9/2/2018 • Port Hudson State Historic Site, Jackson - Firepower!, 1 p.m. - 3 p.m. The Port Hudson State Historic Site will conduct demonstrations with Civil War ear reproduction weapons. The program will start with a cannon demonstration followed by small arms; muskets, rifles, carbine, pistols. The program will conclude with the firing of the parkīs 42-pounder siege cannon. 9/8/2018 to 9/9/2018 • Port Hudson State Historic Site, Jackson - Scout Weekend, 9 a.m. - 4 p.m. All scouts (Girl, Brownie, Boy, and Cub) are invited to come to the park this weekend to earn either the Port Hudson Historic Trail or the Port Hudson Nature Trail patches. Civil War small arm demonstrations will be given during the day. A Civil War campsite will be set up to allow scouts to see what camp life was like for the soldier in the 1860s.
