Throughout the month, exhibits featuring pictures and writings detailing the accomplishments of African-Americans will be displayed in many of the site´s historic outbuildings. 2/24/2018 • Rosedown Plantation State Historic Site, St. Francisville - Enslaved Life at Rosedown, 11 a.m. Learn more about the life of the enslaved people at Rosedown Plantation, through an examination of their duties, accomplishments, and treatment along with an exploration of the hierarchy that existed on the plantation. The program will discuss the historic layout of the plantation including outbuildings, home sites, work areas and fields, followed by a walking tour of the outbuildings on the grounds. 3/16/2018 to 3/18/2018 • Rosedown Plantation State Historic Site, St. Francisville - Audubon Pilgrimage, 9 a.m. - 5 p.m. Visitors will get the opportunity to view the plantation in spring bloom with costumed re-enactors throughout the site. Period music and dancing will be performed at various times during this 3-day program celebrating the artist-naturalist John James Audubon and his time at Oakley Plantation in 1821. 3/25/2018 • Rosedown Plantation State Historic Site, St. Francisville - Easter Egg Hunt, 2 p.m. Easter was an important holiday that was celebrated at Rosedown Plantation. For the Easter Egg Hunt, children can come and find Easter eggs on the grounds. After the Easter egg hunt, children can play 19th-century games.
