Many people have written about public art issues in articles and books (see following section), and a bibliography of relevant sources would be lengthy and difficult to assemble. One article remains a classic and it is required reading for all who are involved in public art: "How Art Becomes Public" by Jerry Allen, King County Arts Commission (1985). It has appeared in several publications, including PLACE (September-October 1986) and Going Public: A Field Guide to Developments in Art in Public Places (1988).
