In regard to the towers' aesthetic impact on the landscape, whatever becomes of their size and shape please, please do not emblazon clichés such as the fleur de lis or anything related to Mardi Gras, jazz, native animals, etc. on these massive things. Also avoid bromides about love/peace/unity/etc. Just the place name, New Orleans or Orleans Parish or Carrollton, is evocative by itself. One other thought: This being all about water, please allocate funds, if that is within your power, to providing residents better opportunities for swimming and learning how to swim. Some 70% of our poor cannot swim, which, besides the deprivation to a fun and healthful recreation, is an unduly significant cause of tragedy (e.g. 40% of Katrina deaths in LA resulted from drowning), and one that is due almost wholly to the lack of an opportunity to learn. |
