Comments: It is truely sad to see how many people do not trust their religious leaders. The fact is the Archdiocese made public the meeting they had scheduled with Holy Cross and the parishiners. I'm sorry that everyone did not attend church at the time and saw the announcement in the Clarion but a number of people did see it and did attend the meeting. Those peolpe (active parish members) voted to sell the property and church to Holy Cross fully aware that the church building would be torn down. The Archdiocese then promised to hold the monies for the parish for future construction if the parish was able to rebuild. The Archdiocese aquired the proper permits for the demolition as required by the laws of the city. Only after all of that did people come forward (architects) and decided to try to get the building declared historically significant.
So in summary no one tried to slip anything by FEMA or the parishiners and everything should proceed as agreed upon.
The property should be cleared and construction should begin.
