||THe church should be demolished. Without schools and churches we can never fully recover. I live across the street from the school and remember how wonderful it was to see children coming and going in our neighborhood. Currently we have no schools and only one church. From my understanding the church building was poorly designed and not completely functional. The congregation struggled to maintain it when the neighborhood was in tact. When a tropical storm hit July 2005 the cross on top of the sancturary was blow loose and was never repaired.
I have been back at my home since Dec 2006, those who clamour for the past need to spend some time in the present. There is no money to repair the building as it stands so why should an abandoned building be retained when the complete site can become functional now.
Tear it down. Bring in Holy Cross. Come live with us
