Cabrini Church, 5500 Paris Ave.
Comments: FEMA, Cabrini should be allowed to stand because it is a remarkable building architecturally. Someone asked whether we trust or have faith in the Archdiocese...no we don't. When the reunion mass was held in September we were allowed into Cabrini for a few minutes. It wasn't that bad ya'll. Someone offered to clean an area for the mass and we were promptly requested to go back outside. The Archdioces did not build Cabrini, the neighborhood of parishioners did. The Archdiocese did not pay for insuring Cabrini, the neighborhood of parishioners did. The insurance money should have gone to the neighborhood of parishioners. We love our church and we love our faith but we do not trust Archbishop Hughes or Father Maestri. Why should we? We love Cabrini and we want to preserve it.

Holy Cross has been an important part of education for many years and I appreciate that some parents and students have indicated some sympathy toward our wanting to save this church, but how many commuters to Holy Cross will consider relocating to Gentilly? One private school can't regenerate an entire community. If Holy Cross was the "savior" it is presented to be, the Ninth Ward should have flourished with its presence.

FEMA, Cabrini should not be torn down. Don't do it to save me in spite of my not recognizing or aknowledging that tearing down Cabrini would be for the greater good.
