Comments: As both a practicing Catholic and a current Holy Cross parent, I cannot help but wonder, "What would Jesus do?" What is he thinking as he looks down from heaven upon all of us? Do we not hear his messages throughout the Bible teaching us accumulations of worldly possessions mean nothing, worshiping anything other than our maker is a sin? Did Jesus choose to teach the masses (adults and children) in buildings deemed historical or did he teach the masses in the most unlikely places? Where did his Eucharistic Celebration take place? The most memorable Eucharistic celebrations I have taken part in had nothing to do with a building but rather the community…the spirit of worship shared between the participants. Some were in the home of a fellow parishioner prior to the construction of a church building; another was in the smallest and humblest of Catholic churches in Denver, CO where every parishioner, prior to mass, personally welcomed our family. The community spirit was also the overwhelming factor in our decision to send our son to HC.

With all changes affecting communities, inevitably there are people who will not agree. Both the Church and HC Community votes show the majority is in favor of HC moving to the Cabrini site with knowledge of the Church building demolishment. After prayerful consideration and research on both sides of the issue, I am requesting FEMA agree to demolish the Church building and allow HC to build its new campus and continue its 150-year tradition of education and service to its' community.
