Name: Paul Hood
City: New Orleans, LA
Cabrini Church
Comments: I live 2 blocks from the site. My wife is a long time resident of the neighborhood. My wife and kids have been baptized, as well as, receiving several other of their sacraments from the church. Her father's funeral was also held at the Church. As you can see, my family has a long and deep relationship with the Church. My wife and all of her siblings atttended Cabrini School K-8. That being said, we are in full support of the Demolition of the Church. If we were in a pre-Katrina environment, I could understand the resistance (still would support the demo) to tearing down the church. However, this is not pre-Katrina and the neighborhood and the city needs Holy Cross. The unmistaken reality is that no one is going to force Holy Cross to use the building as part of their campus, obvisously that is not an option. The Archdiocese has no plans to restore the building (it is no longer a "church" if no one has noticed). So the alternative to not having Holy Cross is to have an gutted building which will likely slowly decay away. Here's an opportunity for New Orleanians to rebuild their neighborhoods and city. Please quit building road blocks and entertain, what I feel, is a ridiculous claim to a 40 yr old building. Thank you for your consideration.
