||Why waste precious tax and private dollars to renovate this building? Hasn't there been enough waste of time and money? Why not use those resources to do something useful and positive?
This was our family Parish for more than 20 years. We lived only a few blocks away until Hurricane Katrina destroyed our home. We firmly believe it is in the best interest of the Parish, Orleans Parish, Holy Cross and our neighborhood for the structure to be demolished. This is no time to try to salvage a building that should have been demolished years ago due to the enormous maintenance problems encountered by our Parish. Look around the City; where-ever a Catholic Church and school has re-opened, the neighborhood has been re-established. If you take the time to drive through our neighborhood, you see that very few people have returned. They are discouraged, as we are. No traffic lights; no road maintenance; no cleaning of the parks and parkways (even while private citizens are fined for failing to clean their properties without funds or assistance); no public services.
Give our neighborhood the chance to come back.
