Comments: My parents were founding members of St. Frances Cabrini parish. My brother and I, as well as both of my children, went to school there. Both of my children were baptized there. I was on the parish School Board for two years during the early 1990s. Until Katrina, I was still a member of the parish. The church should be demolished. It is pretty to look at but it has been a money pit for decades. Notwithstanding its unique architectural style and construction methods, it does not merit historical landmark status. It is no longer a parish in the eyes of the Archdiocese of New Orleans and it will never again function as a church because the Archdiocese doesn't want to restore and maintain it. Let's move forward, not backward in this matter. Demolish as soon as possible.
