Australia, New Zealand visits via BUSA MegaFam

Ten top travel agents from Australia and New Zealand experienced several Louisiana destinations this month as part of a Brand USA MegaFam. The catalyst was a new Air New Zealand direct flight to Houston. The entourage visited New Orleans, the Northshore, Baton Rouge, Plantation Country, Houma, Cajun Coast, Iberia, Lafayette, Jeff Davis and Lake Charles.

Trails & Byways   Myths & Legends Byway reps update progress
Spokesmen for the Myths & Legends Byway recently presented a progress update in Baton Rouge. The 178-mile route through Allen, Beauregard and Vernon parishes has signage in place and has online and printed support materials for travelers.

Angola Rodeo   UK outlet touts St. Francisville, Angola Rodeo
Major UK daily The Telegraph recently published a piece on one of Louisiana's most unique tourist draws - the Angola Rodeo - and the charm and traveler offerings of St. Francisville.

International PowWow   Volunteers sought for IPW
The New Orleans CVB is seeking IPW ambassadors who will assist with airport arrivals, sightseeing departures and with staffing information desks at host hotels.

Department of Homeland Security   Global Entry Program will be at IPW
U.S. Customs and Border Protection will be at IPW in New Orleans in June to conduct Global Entry Program screenings. The program grants speedy clearance for pre-approved low-risk travelers entering the U.S.

US Travel Association   $12B spending forecast for Memorial Day weekend
Memorial Day weekend travelers were forecasted to spend $12 billion on their trips, or about 1.2 percent more than in 2015, U.S. Travel recently reported.

China will surpass the UK and Japan as the largest overseas visitor market by 2020, says the Pacific Asia Travel Association.

  Walters named Lafourche communications manager
Kellie Walters has been named communications manager for the Bayou Lafourche Area Convention and Visitors Bureau. A Houma native, Walters' professional background includes serving as marketing coordinator for Terrebonne General Medical Center and as morning meteorologist for KPLC-TV in Lake Charles.
