DIRECTOR OF VOLUNTEER SERVICES SOUGHT FOR VOLUNTEER LOUISIANA

LOCATION AND POSITION INFORMATION:
The Director of Volunteer Services position is in the Volunteer Louisiana Office within the Office of the Lieutenant Governor and located in the Capital Annex Building in Baton Rouge, LA.

Qualifications:
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
A baccalaureate degree.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
Professional experience with administration/management, volunteer recruitment/management, disaster response/recovery. Knowledge of AmeriCorps/national service a plus.

Job Concepts:
The Director of Volunteer Services promotes volunteerism statewide through volunteer recognition, volunteer training, and volunteer communications. This position also helps coordinate disaster-related volunteerism in conjunction with non-profit and governmental partners.

Examples of Work:
Volunteer Services:
- Promote and manage volunteer recognition and awards, including the Louisiana Volunteer Service Awards, Community Service Diploma Endorsement, and Champions of Service Awards.
- Help manage and update VolunteerLouisiana.gov website and online volunteer management system
- Promote volunteer opportunities and national days of service through social media, public forums, media, and website
- Develop resources to help organizations recruit and engage diverse volunteer populations such as families, corporate volunteers, people with disabilities, seniors, and youth
- Cultivate relationships and strategic partnerships with volunteer agencies, faith-based organizations, and volunteer connector agencies.

Disaster Services
- Manage the Volunteer Generation Fund grant
- Represent Volunteer Louisiana on state and regional VOADs' (Voluntary Organizations Active In Disaster) and provide administrative support as needed
- Represent Volunteer Louisiana on state Citizen Corps Council and provide administrative support as needed
- Supervise the Disaster Services Specialist, and assist with planning and conducting CERT (Community Emergency Response Team) and other Citizen Corps/Emergency Response trainings
- Help establish virtual and/or physical volunteer reception centers in times of disaster
- Cultivate relationships and strategic partnerships with the volunteer, non-profit, and emergency management sectors in Louisiana
- Support designated Emergency Support Functions (ESF) and Recovery Support Functions (RSF) in conjunction with GOHSEP (Governor's Office of Homeland Security and Emergency Preparedness)
- Represent Louisiana VOAD at the EOC (Emergency Operations Center) as needed in times of disaster

Other
- Serve as staff liaison to the VL Commission's Volunteerism and Disaster Services Committee
- Represent VL at conferences and other events focused on volunteerism and disaster response
- Perform additional administrative and grant management tasks as necessary
