The Louisiana Department of Transportation Captures our State's Historic Bridges!
Historic bridges are an important part of Louisiana's culture and transportation history. To preserve and protect this legacy, a statewide Historic Bridge Inventory was undertaken by the Louisiana Department of Transportation and Development (LADOTD), in cooperation with the Federal Highway Administration (FHWA) and the State Historic Preservation Officer (SHPO) in keeping with the Section 106 Review process.
A great result of the bridge inventory project is a publication titled, "Crossing the Bayou: Louisiana's Historic Bridges", completed by Mead & Hunt, Inc. for the LADOTD.
